History

In 1990, Sanjiv Suri came to Prague, which charmed him with its architecture and history, and he decided to stay. Then he came up with a plan – to open a good restaurant as the field of ​​gastronomy and services was just in its infancy. His ignorance of the Czech language and environment was balanced by his personal warmth, enthusiasm and considerable international experience in the field. Dana Krautstenglová was so inspired by him that, at the age of fifty, she left her job and went into business with him. First they opened a wine bar called V Zátiší in Liliova Street, which soon became a popular meeting place for prominent personalities, politicians, businessmen and lovers of good food and wine and eventually gave the entire company its name.

Over the next 29 years, they built one of the largest gastronomic companies in the country, including the restaurants V Zátiší, Mlýnec and Bellevue (temporary closed), and Zátiší Catering with its pan-European operation, as well as the Fresh & Tasty division providing daily meals in corporate and school canteens.

The flagship restaurant, V Zátiší, was one of the first fine dining establishments in Prague to regularly rank among the top positions in Maurer’s Grand Restaurant Guide. At the Bellevue restaurant, which was ranked among Trip Advisor’s top 20 European restaurants in 2019 and was named the first-place restaurant in Maurer's Grand Restaurant Guide, gourmets will appreciate the delicacies prepared by Bellevue’s chefs and visiting world-class chefs. On the other hand, Mlýnec offers modern Czech cuisine in the immediate vicinity of Charles Bridge. Delightful culinary experiences can also be enjoyed at the Café Václav in the Škoda Auto Museum in Mladá Boleslav and in the café located in the house in Vratislavice where Ferdinand Porsche was born.

Zátiší Catering is the general catering partner of the Prague Congress Centre and also organises unforgettable events with great food and service – anytime, anywhere.

The Zátiší Group realises that it can only grow by pleasing its guests and wants to share its happiness with those who have not been as fortunate. Therefore, each year it donates 50% of its profits to various charitable projects. It has long supported organisations such as the Tereza Maxová Foundation, People in Need, Good Angel, the Via Foundation, the Barbara Nesvadbová Be Charity and other projects in the Czech Republic and abroad.
