About the conference

The Annual Conference of the AFI is one of the key events aimed at supporting the investment environment in the Czech Republic. This year, the event's fourth edition takes place on September 7, 2023, at the Czech National Bank in Prague. 

The conference part of the event will comprise of three moderated panel discussions in which experts will talk about current trends and the latest issues in the economic and investment environment. 

The main aspect of the evening gala will be the awarding of the AFI Prizes.

Minister for Industry and Trade CR

 

Jozef Síkela spent most of his career as a banker, and gradually managed to become one of the highest-ranked officials in the Erste Group. Shortly after being appointed Minister, he chaired four ministerial councils, the Energy Council as part of the Czech Presidency, and succeeded in replacing Russian energy supplies by safeguarding alternative energy sources.

Economist, former Rector of Mendel University

Danuše Nerudová is an economist, professor and Rector Emeritus of Mendel University in Brno (2018-2022). She was elected as the first ever female rector of the university and the youngest female rector. During her tenure, Mendel University was the first university in the Czech Republic to receive the HR Award, an award for creating equal opportunities and transparency in human resource management. Under her leadership, the University has undergone significant modernisation and changes for her tenure. Nerudová has set as a goal and therefore decided not to seek the position of rector for a second time in 2021.

In her professional career, she has focused on the topic of taxes, their harmonisation with European law, pensions and equal opportunities for women and men. She has gained a lot of international and political experience. Since 2018, she chaired the Fair Pensions Commission, which presented a proposal for pension reform with broad professional and political consensus. Although the Commission was established under the previous government, the reform proposal was adopted by most parties in their election programmes and the new government included it in its programme statement. During the first wave, Covid-19, together with other experts, set up a citizen expert initiative, KoroNERV-20, which made concrete recommendations to politicians on how to effectively combat the impact of the pandemics.

Helena Horská is currently the Chief Economist of Raiffeisenbank a.s. and a member of the Supervisory Board of Raiffeisenbank a.s. She is also an independent member of the advisory team of the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala and the National Economic Council of the Government. She was also appointed a member of the advisory board to the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs dealing with pension reform. She occasionally lectures at universities. She is a recognised expert on monetary policy. She is the author of numerous academic publications, including articles on inflation targeting published during her postgraduate studies at the Kiel Institute for World Economics. She received her PhD from the University of Economics in Prague. During her studies she received several awards including the title of "Young Economist of the Year 2001". Her presentations and speeches are dynamic and engaging. Her motto is: luck favours the prepared.

David Navrátil

Chief Economist, Česká spořitelna

David Navrátil is the chief economist of Česká spořitelna. He studied economics at the University of Mining - Technical University of Ostrava. He started as an analyst at the Czech National Bank, and after three years he moved to the same position at Česká spořitelna. Since 2008, he has been working as chief economist and head of Economic and Strategic Analysis. It deals with macroeconomics, investments, financial markets and the prosperity of Czech society.

Eva Zamrazilová

CNB Deputy Governor

Eva Zamrazilova graduated from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Economics in Prague. She worked as a researcher at the Forecasting Institute of the University of Economics in Prague, at the Economic Institute of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences and the Research Institute for Labour and Social Affairs. In 1990 she completed her postgraduate studies at the Statistics Department of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Economics. From 1994–2008 she was involved in the preparation of macroeconomic analyses and forecasts in the Team of the Chief Economist at Komerční Banka. In 2008 she became a member of the CNB Bank Board. After her mandate expired in 2014, she worked as the Chief Economist of the Czech Banking Association. In 2017 the Chamber of Deputies appointed her as Chairperson of the Czech Fiscal Council at the government’s proposal. She has a long publication record in Czech and international journals, specialising in macroeconomic equilibrium, the convergence process in transition economies, economic policy, the labour market and budget responsibility. She became a member of the CNB Bank Board on 1 July 2022 and has also served as CNB Deputy Governor since this date.

He started his professional career at Cushman & Wakefield, where he spent a total of ten years. Since 2008, he has headed Panattoni as Managing Director for the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

 

Panattoni is part of Panattoni Development Company, one of the world's largest privately owned real estate development companies with 48 offices in North America and Europe. Since its launch in Central Europe in 2005, the company has completed a total of more than 13.9 million sqm of modern industrial space.

 

Pavel Sovička has 23 years of industrial experience in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. He has been involved in transactions representing a total of more than 1,500,000 m2 of leased and sold space. Some of the most significant projects under his leadership include Panattoni Park Prague Airport I and II, Amazon's distribution centre in Dobrovíz (the largest rental building in the Czech Republic, 120,000 sqm), Panattoni Park D5 / Stříbro and Panattoni Park Cheb, whose most significant tenant is Tchibo (the second largest rental building in the Czech Republic, 105,000 sqm).

He graduated from the Czech Technical University in Prague, specializing in transport engineering and urban planning. Subsequently, as a consultant, he participated in the preparation of several important domestic and foreign projects. He then decided to apply his experience from the private sector as Director of Business Location and Real Estate at CzechInvest, where he helped both investors coming to the Czech Republic and municipalities with their development projects. He is currently leading a project to build a Strategic Business Park in Líně, where the production of batteries for electric vehicles, the so-called gigafactory, is to be located. In connection with this project, he is also in charge of developing a concept for the preparation of areas for strategic investments in the Czech Republic by the state.

He currently holds the position of Vice President for Administration at TRCZ. It is a manufacturing company belonging to the Tokai Rika Group, which is also part of the wider Toyota Group.

There are more than 1,000 employees working in the injection molding, molding, PCB assembly and assembly operations. The products are mainly used to control the car and turn the driver's will into the car's actions.

The TPS philosophy is omnipresent here. Both in production and in other areas. A philosophy that pushes people to constantly improve and develop has impressed him so much that he has been working for the company for 20 years.

He enjoys the process approach, the quiet strength, as well as family and sports. He graduated from VŠB-TU Ostrava and holds an MBA from VŠEM in Prague. He started as a treasurer in an investment company. Then, thanks to AIESEC experience in Japan, he found a job at TRCZ, where he moved from positions in controlling, finance, IT, purchasing and HR to his current position as Vice President. He went through phases from starting the company on a greenfield to expansion, fighting the crisis, restoring growth, covid or missing chips. Today, he is in a phase of stabilization and preparation for future challenges.

He graduated from the Secondary School of Industry in Opava and immediately after his studies he joined Vítkovické železárny, where he worked in technical professions. After November 1989 he participated in the creation of new trade unions. He has been active in trade union functions since February 1990. In 1993 he was elected vice-chairman of OS KOVO and in 2005 he became its chairman. In April 2014, he became the head of the largest trade union headquarters of ČMKOS.

He has been active for a long time in various working teams of the Tripartite - RHSD. He is a member of the Steering Committee of the European Trade Union Confederation. In 2019 he was elected to the position of Vice President of the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC).

He enjoys photography, skiing, listening to music and likes to use Facebook and Twitter for his work.
