On September 7, the 4th Annual AFI Conference of AFI was held at the Czech National Bank Congress Centre with a large number of representatives from major companies, organizations and AFI members.

The subtitle of this year's conference was: Is the Czech economy heading towards evolution? The conference was opened with opening remarks by Jozef Síkela, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic. This was followed by three discussion panels in which speakers commented on the current state of the Czech economy, the investment environment, and highlighted the challenges and opportunities facing the Czech Republic:

The first panel discussed the economic outlook of the Czech Republic, investment and the impact of budget measures, with speakers including:

  • Helena Horská, Chief Economist, Raiffeisenbank
  • David Navrátil, Chief Economist of Česká spořitelna
  • Danuše Nerudová, economist, former rector of Mendel University
  • Eva Zamrazilová, Deputy Governor of the Czech National Bank

The second discussion panel was on the topic of modern trends in industrial investors, the speakers were:

  • Robert Kiml, Vice President of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Czech Republic
  • Luboš Lukasík, Member of the Board of Directors, T-Mobile Czech Republic
  • David Petr, SPP Linen Project Coordinator, CzechInvest
  • Pavel Sovička, Managing Director, Panattoni Czech Republic

The last panel discussed the impact of ESG as a driver and a brake on the Czech economy and the development of the labour market:

  • Dagmar Kužvartová, Director of the Employers' Section, Confederation of Industry and Transport
  • Jan Madzia, Vice President of TRCZ
  • Jana Skalková, Chief Advisor to the Minister of Labour and Social Affairs
  • Josef Středula, President of the Czech-Moravian Confederation of Trade Unions

The conference presented part of the results of a representative Business Environment Survey conducted by the AFI association during the summer of 2023 among investors who invested in the Czech Republic in the field of industry and services.

There was also the announcement of the AFI Awards. The Award AFI Award for Significant Investment Achievement was awarded to KVADOS for the development of a comprehensive solution in the field of robotics and automation of logistics in warehouses. The AFI and CzechInvest Award for Innovative Idea of the Year was awarded to NEBESYS for its unique roofing system for pitched roofs, which allows a panoramic view from the interior to the outside, while maintaining the appearance of a classic roof tile when viewed from the outside. The AFI Award for Longstanding Contribution to the Investment Environment of the Czech Republic was received by Jaroslav Hanák, long-time president of the Confederation of Industry and Transport of the Czech Republic.
