The seminar "News in the Czech Investment Environment" was organized on Monday 29 April 2024 by the Association for Foreign Investment AFI in cooperation with TECO (Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, Prague) for Taiwanese companies operating in the Czech Republic. The event took place at the premises of KPMG.

The seminar brought Taiwanese investors closer to important information and news from many areas of the Czech investment environment and opened up topics relevant to operating, entering or expanding in the Czech Republic. Experts on each topic spoke about investment incentives, the situation on the labour market and employment of foreign workers, the newly established SIRS agency, trends in digitalization and automation, and last but not least, the legislative framework regarding carbon duty (CBAM) and CSRD/ESG reporting.

The meeting was opened and the guests were welcomed by Cecilia Liu, Director of the Economic Division of TECO. Ondřej Votruba, Executive Director of AFI, in his opening remarks expressed his interest in cooperation between Czech and Taiwanese companies. Jan Linhart (KPMG) spoke about new regulations in the area of investment incentives and the approval process with regard to Czech and European legislation.  Michaela Čálková (SIRS) presented the newly established State Investment and Development Company (SIRS), whose main mission will be to prepare modern industrial sites with the necessary infrastructure for strategic investments in the Czech Republic. Luboš Lukasík (T-Business) focused on new trends in the field of digitalization of industry. Gabriela Hrbáčková (Hofmann Personal) and Gabriela Bauerová (CzechInvest) spoke about plans to attract foreign workers, visa rules and quotas, and presented programmes for highly and less skilled workers. Kamil Blažek (Kinstellar) and Anna Vaníčková (KPMG) presented the rules for calculating the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). Veronika Hajná (Enviros) focused her presentation on the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and ESG legislation.

The seminar had a very positive response and we are glad that we could organize it together with our partners. We thank all participants, speakers and organizers and look forward to the next time.
