Operating as a single fully-integrated firm, Kinstellar delivers consistently high-quality services across all jurisdictions in an integrated and seamless style. However, our practice is not limited to these jurisdictions – our clients benefit from our experience, expertise, relationships and local knowledge in such countries as: Bulgaria, Croatia, Ukraine, Belarus and other CIS countries.
Kinstellar in Czech Republic was established in 1992, our Prague office is a leading law firm in the Czech Republic. Our work advising multinationals, international financial institutions, governments, and domestic clients covers many of the most significant transactions ever completed within New Europe, such as foreign direct investments of Hyundai Mobis or Nexen Tire Corporation.
Our market leadership in the Czech Republic has been repeatedly recognised by independent reviewers and achieved top directory rankings in the following areas: Corporate/M&A, Banking & Finance and Capital Markets, Real Estate and Construction and TMT.
A significant part of our practice involves advising foreign and multinational corporations on foreign direct investment projects. We have advised on hundreds foreign direct investment transactions, including joint ventures and start-up “greenfield” inward investment operations, public takeovers, privatisations and the acquisition of strategic interests. In many cases, we have been actively involved in the selection process for both the country of destination and the specific final site. We act for both bidders and targets, and for both strategic and portfolio investors; thus, we are well placed to understand the diversity of the different needs of different clients. We also advise on all forms of corporate and commercial transactions, including company and group reorganisations, company formations and general commercial agreements. In addition, we advise on all issues related to employment, IT, competition and commercial property (that includes also construction, permitting, planning, EIA and related work). Furthermore, we have maintained for many years very active relationships with the public authorities responsible for supporting and attracting foreign investors. This affords us detailed knowledge of the local legal and political environments, benefitting both us and our clients.
We have deep experience advising of advising on project management during the investment implementation phase. We are able to handle effectively the entire application and negotiation process with the state authorities such as CzechInvest (the government agency responsible for supporting foreign investors), the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the Labour Ministry. We have managed or advised on investment implementation for a number of manufacturers (for example – in the automotive industry – Hyundai Motors and its suppliers).
Furthermore, Kinstellar is one of the core members of the Association for Foreign Investments (AFI), which is a sister organisation to CzechInvest. Our FDI Practice Partner, Kamil Blažek, is Chairman of the AFI’s Board of Directors and works very closely with various members of CzechInvest, including both its top management and executive branches. In 2002, Kamil worked for CzechInvest (on secondment from Linklaters) on the implementation of various investment projects. Given our long-term commitment in this area, we are confident that we can ensure the best available treatment for our clients.
