AFI was the partner at the seminar “Investment and Technology: Opportunities & Connections in Japan,” which focused on key aspects of entering the Japanese market and expanding business activities in this highly specific economy. The discussion among experts and companies confirmed that while Japan offers attractive opportunities, it also requires a long-term approach, thorough preparation, and a deep understanding of the local environment.

The seminar took place on March 31, 2026, at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, with the participation of distinguished representatives from both the public and private sectors. Opening remarks were delivered by the Ambassadors of Japan to the Czech Republic and the Czech Republic to Japan, alongside representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, CzechInvest, and the Confederation of Industry.

The expert program was moderated by Kamil Blažek, Honorary Chairman of AFI. Among the speakers was also Blake Wittman, Vice-Chair of the AFI Steering Committee, together with representatives of organizations such as JETRO, CzechInvest, and CzechTrade. They introduced concrete tools and support mechanisms for companies entering the Japanese market, covering legal and tax advisory, as well as strategic aspects of expansion.

Valuable insights were also shared by companies already active in Japan. Their presentations highlighted practical experience, including challenges related to the unique business environment, high quality standards, and the importance of building long-term relationships.

The discussion clearly showed that success in the Japanese market is not a matter of short-term strategy. Patience, local knowledge, and the ability to adapt to cultural and business specifics are essential. In this regard, the connection between experts, institutions, and companies—actively fostered by AFI—plays a crucial role.

AFI will continue to provide a platform for sharing experience and supporting both Czech and foreign investors in their international expansion.
