Congress
Thursday, September 23-24, 2021
O2 University in Prague
After a long online exile, logistics professionals look forward to congresses, seminars and discussions with live people - without having to look at each other across the screen. One of the top events of the rich autumn conference season will be the 24th annual EASTLOG logistics congress. The event, which is one of the largest in Central Europe, takes place on 23-24 of September 2021 in the modern premises of the O2 University in Prague. These days, the names of the speakers are revealed on the website www.eastlog.cz and social networks, and the registration of participants is also in full swing. Association for Foreign Investment - AFI is a traditional partner of the congress.
The main motto of this year's EASTLOG congress is New Day, new challenges. Why like this? In 2020, the world woke up to a new, not very happy day. It seemed that it was not even a day, but a continuation of a long night. A pandemic has changed every area of life. Some sectors have plummeted, others have prospered, but all players have faced entirely new challenges. Now that this difficult night is slowly coming to an end, we are watching what will bring a new day for warehousing, transportation, IT, HR or investment. How do we emerge from the pandemic paradigm? Dozens of speakers and more than four hundred logistics professionals will talk about the new day for logistics, supply chains, trade, production or sustainability.
EASTLOG 2021 will focus on five main challenges facing the post-pandemic logistics market:
1. Make logistics more sustainable
Logistics, and transport in particular, is an area that produces a significant amount of emissions that contribute to climate change. The pressure to transform the sector will be enormous in the coming years. What should we prepare for, what solutions are effective and how much will it all cost? We will address this challenge in a joint morning block sponsored by Panattoni. Representatives of the Lean & Green project (Czecho-Slovak Initiative ECR, GS1 Czech Republic) also participate in the program. In this block, inspiring speakers from the Czech Republic and abroad will speak, specific examples of logistical sustainability will be heard in practice, and a panel discussion entitled A Thousand and One Form of Sustainability will take place.
2. Withstand a storm in the economy
There has been nothing like it since the end of World War II. Entire sectors of the economy closed, massive state debt and rapid digitization without preparation. It was a horror series with the fictional name Covid 2020-2021. The economy has probably reached its bottom and is now (moving) up. Are we waiting for a quick recovery? We will address this challenge in a joint afternoon block. The keynote speaker will be Miroslav Singer, one of the most respected economists in the Czech Republic, former governor of the Czech National Bank and current director of institutional relations and chief economist at Generali CEE Holding. This will be followed by a panel discussion of the leaders of the Czech logistics and transport market with the participation of Miroslav Singer entitled Searching for another economic normal.
3. Digitize and robotize
The economy is undergoing a profound transformation, and one, if not the only, way to respond effectively is to rely more on automation, digitization and robotics. How do they help to increase competitiveness, economic sustainability and address staff shortages? This challenge will be discussed throughout the congress, but mainly in the afternoon DIGILOG workshop. Participants can look forward to inspiring presentations, case studies and a panel discussion on automation, digitization and robotics in logistics and transport.
4. Adopt new trends in the industry
Electromobility, autonomous control, Industry 4.0, automation, digital production, algorithms, energy transformation, artificial intelligence, cloud computing… These are terms that are used in many industries. Which trends are key to strengthening Czech industry? This challenge will be discussed throughout the congress, but especially at the AUTOLOG workshop. It will be under the auspices of the Association of the Automotive Industry, whose representative will appear in the introduction. The participants can look forward to inspiring lectures (for example by Iliyan Ivanov from ŠKODA AUTO), practical case studies and a panel discussion on the topic of changes in the logistics of the automotive industry.
5. Handle the e-commerce boom
Online shopping has been a clear trend for the last ten or fifteen years, but the coronavirus pandemic has made it a phenomenon. A highly competitive environment requires a very efficient intralogistics and delivery system. What challenges await e-shops in this regard? This question will be addressed throughout the congress day, especially during the afternoon RETAILOG workshop. In this case, the patronage was taken over by the Confederation of Trade and Tourism, and its president, Tomáš Prouza, will give an introductory speech. The workshop consists of lectures, case studies from practice and a panel discussion on the topic of urban logistics.
A rich accompanying program awaits the participants:
